McCain Graduate Trainee Programme – Fostering Talented Individuals

At McCain Foods (SA), not only are we in the business of cultivating and growing quality crops, but of cultivating and growing quality talent. We have, through our Graduate Trainee Programme, contributed to the development of a number of extremely talented individuals who have been successfully placed in permanent positions within the company.

Designed to support the achievement of employment equity targets through the development of previously disadvantaged individuals and to create a pool of talented resources in employment categories where skills are scarce, the Graduate Trainee Programme, from an initial intake of two graduates in 2005, has grown to include seven to ten graduate trainees per annum and has been very successful in creating equity successors.

A total of 43 graduates have been employed with McCain Foods (SA) since 2005, of which 32 were retained.

The programme, which offers a one-year employment contract to graduates in Agriculture, Food Science, Engineering, Accounting and Sales & Marketing, is structured to ensure the expedited development of specific functional knowledge and skills as well as general business exposure for the graduates, many of whom are invited to visit overseas operations of McCain Foods Ltd. to further increase their exposure, and sees them attending the following training courses as part of their development plan:
